The Project Manager Competency Assessment (PMCA) establishes an individual's competency profile as seen by those with whom they work, compares it to how they see themselves and notes the variance between the two.
Competencies, as opposed to skills, are those traits possessed by an individual, which may be hard to view in action and cannot be obtained through training. In some cases, they may be hereditary. This 72-question web-based assessment survey profiles individual project managers in both self-assessment and 360 degree-assessment formats. There are four major competency areas profiled.
- Business competencies
- Personal competencies
- Interpersonal competencies
- Management competencies
Examples of competencies assessed include:
- Business awareness
- Flexibility
- Anticipation of impact
- Motivating others
